A Month in NYC
Even though I’m currently on the East coast, I will forever live by the Central Time zone as the loyal midwestern girl that I am. That being said, it’s still very much October 1st in Illinois & exactly ONE whole ass month since I moved to New York City- and it feels weird. It feels like the last day of a vacation when you’re gearing up to leave and everything just a bit more gloomy. That’s exactly how I feel like right now. But then I remember that I kinda sorta live here now, and all that melancholy instantly turns to relief.
On September 1st, I walked into to my apartment and beelined straight for my balcony. I opened the doors, took a step out, and my jaw dropped- I’m pretty sure I teared up a bit too. Life is so fucking wild. Since then time has gone by so slow but also so incredibly quick at the same time. I wanted to put into perspective how long a month really is- and like the good data science major I am- this is how I decided to break it down.
One month in New York is equal to:
30 days or 730 hours or 43,000 minutes
297,270 steps (exactly)
506 mirror selfies
157 subway rides
35 iced coffees
16 rewatched episodes of Gossip Girl
12 White Claws
7 trips to Trader Joe’s
6 dates
5 rat spottings
4 days at the farmer’s market
3 excursions outside of Manhattan
3 bouquets of flowers
2.5 workouts
2 Travis Scott burgers
1 roach in my room
1 MetroCard
1 job offer
1 bottle of Sriracha
1 hot doorman
To me, that sounds like a pretty successful month. And now that I’m all settled in, we can pick up the pace. Let’s go.
